WEATHERIZATION

There are sophisticated, accurate ways to measure the “tightness” of a house. A typical house has cracks equivalent to keeping a full size window open year round. This is why your utility bills can be so shocking!

Typical weatherization procedures include:

Sealing cracks, gaps, and holes, especially in the attic and around pipes that penetrate the building envelope.  Materials used are caulk, foam sealant, weather-stripping, window film, door sweeps, and electrical receptacle gaskets.

Addressing problematic areas such as attics and crawl spaces where both moisture and infiltration must be considered simultaneously.

Insulating walls, floors, ceilings, around ducts, pipes, water heaters and the foundation.

Replacing older windows with low-energy, double-glazed windows.

"Form follows function that has been misunderstood. Form and function should be one, joined in a spiritual union."
