![]() BLOWER DOOR TESTING Macfarlane Homes quantifies the extent and location of air leaks in your home’s building envelope using a blower door test. By repeating this test after weatherization is complete, we can measure the effectiveness of the air sealing efforts. A blower door is a powerful fan that mounts into the frame of an exterior door. The fan pulls air out of the house, lowering the air pressure inside. The higher outside air pressure then flows in through all unsealed cracks and openings. This diagnostic test determines the air infiltration rate of a building. Diagnostic Tools diagram courtesy of the US Deptment of Energy, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Division |
